Pics from Retrospective Scooters' re-opening & book launch

In between chatting to folk & selling copies of my new book I managed to squeeze off a roll of 35mm film shots; the best of which are shown in this set - here

GS Soho shoot

I shot this lovely 1962 MKI GS160 for the second edition of my Retrospective Scooters book early one Saturday morning in London's Soho. It's one of the very few vespas featured not in it's original paint but I think most would agree a very worthy inclusion for the book. I reckon Soho was an inspired location to shoot it too ...

This shot was taken by the GS's proud & lucky owner.

Retrospective re-opening & book launch

Foto by Jacq Hart

Me photographed at Retrospective Scooters/London Scooter Bodyshop for today's grand re-opening & launch of my Retrospective Scooters book (second edition). Pictured with my 'tools of the trade' - vespa, camera & helmet - everything I need for doing what I do ...

Had a great response to the new & much improved book featuring tonnes of new shots. A great day with friends and family in attendance and blessed with some great weather in North London.

Indian scooter style

Beautiful shot taken by Ralf Roller of S.I.P. Scootershop while visiting India earlier this year.

Despite SIP's 20 year success story, Ralf & many of the staff are still scooterists at heart. I've always stopped & admired SIP adverts in the likes of Scootering & Classic Scooterist Scene magazines; they have an innate sense of style and looking at Ralf's shot here, you can see where it comes from ..

Primavera in Giappone

Lovely pic sent in by Japan based John, vespamore follower and book customer, clearly a man with good taste..!

"Hi Paul, I thought you might like this pic of a 1963 Vespa 50 (small door) smallframe. It was restored and is owned by my friend Naoya Aizawa of the Vespa Club Miyagi, Japan. I like the colours in this pic.It was taken this week but could be 40 years ago. A nice Japanese spring photo!"

If anyone else wants to share a great vespa foto on here, you can send it in to

Cheers John & thanks for sharing ; )

S.I.P. Scootershop - 20 years performance and style

"Just putting the finishing touches to Paul Hart's second edition of Retrospective Scooters. Due to be published during April 2014, it once again shows Paul’s love of Vespa’s and his eye for photography. Paul works solely with 35mm and the results speak for themselves. It’s always a pleasure to work with Paul. Keep an eye out for his next publication Retrospective Cycles book"- Graphic Designer, David Hardy.

VVC 50th Anninversay London - Brighton ride

Taken by me Saturday 5th April 2014 at Brighton Marina on the Veteran Vespa Club's 50th anniiversary ride from Epsom Downs to Brighton.

The very nice GS150 VS5 (pictured centre) is a last minute addition to the second edition of my Retrospective Scooters book, along with a beautiful original paint red SS180 that was also on the ride. The GS is still wearing it's original paint complete with running in sticker on inside of legshields.

The finished draft is due to go the printer later this week & is due for release on the 26th April.

I love coming across fellow vespa fans/addicts with an interest not only in our beloved vespa but also with an eye for taking a decent photograph and a healthy passion for design, in short holding similar beliefs to my own ...

One such example is the German collective known as 'vespassione' who between them take some very cool vespa photography and indulge in a bit of quality film making while riding their vespas - definitely my kind of people!

Their typically German tastes pretty much echo my own, for nice original paint vespas with that little bit of extra power on tap when required but not at the expense of Signore D'Ascanio's clean lines, this beautiful 'Supersprint' being a perfect example.
