Another un-restored Rally 200 ..!

Following on from the previous post, here is another un-restored, factory paint Rally 200 - it's a 2 owner original Northern Ireland bike - the second owner bought it when it was 2 years old. It is thought this is a 1974 model. It used to have a PX side car bolted to it but the guy who looks after/maintains this for it's pensioner owner managed to persuade him to remove it.

How many more un-restored vespas like this are there..?!?

'76 unrestored Rally

Some great shots of this original paint 1976 Rally 200, sent in by a guy who just ordered a copy of my Retrospective Scooters book.

This Rally was last ridden on the road in 1984..!! Being a big fan of nicely original vespas, I'm pleased the new owner won't be doing too much to it who says:

"I intend to just give the body work a good clean and polish as I feel it would be a shame to give it a full restoration".

Quite right I reckon; it's only original once!

If you like original bikes, you'll like the second edition of Retrospective Scooters, the book is full of lovely unrestored vespas like this Rally; all of which have been taken by me on 35mm film. The new book is £29.50 plus P+P and is available to order securely online - here

Rusty Thai vespa

LOve this excellent shot from Anucha Adam taken in Thailand ...

VVC Swanage Rally

Got back on Sunday from the very well organized Veteran Vespa Club's Swanage event, 15-18th May. Had an excellent few days with amazing weather all through the weekend, riding to beautiful places in Dorset such as Studland, Corfe Castle, Lulworth Cove and Weymouth amongst others..

You can see the full set of 35mm film photographs I took  - here

For more of my vespa film photography, why not order a copy of my own book full of 35mm shots I've taken of mostly beautiful original paint vespas - here

Cushman GS

Had to pick up my GT160 from Retropsective Scooters last Thursday before heading direct to the Veteran Vespa Club's Swanage rally. Saw this beautiful original paint GS150 VS5 supplied by US company Cushman. Shame I didn't see this before we printed my latest book as this would have definitely been in there .. check out the other 35mm film shots I took - here

VVC Swanage rally

Me caught on camera by Hayley Jopson while on the Veteran Vespa Club's Swanage rally (15-18th May 2014). Riding from Lulworth Castle to Swanage in Dorset. My own 35mm fotos from the event coming very soon ...

Red vespa

Love the composition in this shot by Stuart Wrightson

Check out Stuart's website here for more great images -

Happy customer

Some recent feed back from Tomas Olsson in Sweden; pleased with his just received copy of the second edition of Retrospective Scooters ...

"Love your work Paul, it is really a completely different feeling when you get them on paper than on screen. Also like that it is classic vespa in unrestored mode. The VS1 and Douglas Rod model are fantastic bikes."

The lovely red Rally 200 pictured above belongs to Tomas - great to be sending the book to vespa fans around the globe & to someone with good taste!

The second edition of Retrospective Scooters is priced at £29.50 plus postage & packing and can be ordered securely online via PayPal here -

VVC London-Brighton Run

These shots of me & my Motovespa GT160 were taken on the Veteran Vespa Club's London to Brighton run on 5th April, earlier this year. They were taken by fellow VVC member, Miles Davis on expired black & white film & processed by Miles at home in his own darkroom. The white P-Range is Miles' own Motovespa P200 which he rode on the event & in fact has just acquired another one.

Aside from my unfortunate expression (which I think was due to the cold that day), I love the gritty/vintage feel to these. I've long been an admirer of Miles' atmospheric work and his DIY approach to photography which you can see more of - here

Like Miles, I think digital doesn't come close to the results you get with film & is something I've pursued in my own Retrospective Scooters book

Vespa GT160

Really like this shot by Kai Hiksch, nice composition & of course I have an affinity with the subject; owning and riding a Spanish Motovespa GT160 myself.

The Lambretta rider in the far distance can be seen closer up in this other shot by Kai.

Great capture by Baffalie taken in Rome

Romantic dinner for two ...
