Sex on Fire !!

Here are the 35mm film shots I took last week of this beautiful Laverda Jota, see previous post here

From time to time I look in on a car repair workshop located near me in West Hertfordshire. A few weeks back I called by to see if they had anything of interest - they often have in American classic autos (Plymouth Duster, Ford Fury, Chrysler Newport etc..), as well as the bread & butter modern autos they mainly service. On this occasion they had in this stunning Jota which belongs to the garage owner's mate. I took a few iPhone shots intending to return and get some on 35mm film at a later date.

I last saw a Jota at the Ace Cafe a few years back and asked the owner if we could set up a date for me to shoot it on film. I didn't hear back from him; fair enough, not everyone wants you photographing their bikes, cars etc. It's been a long wait but worth it.

Am not in the habit of using 'sexy' as a superlative but in this case it aptly describes this amazing machine.

'Red Morning Light' would be my favoured Kings of Leon track but in this case 'Sex on Fire' is spot on..!

Calling all writers..

© SLUK - ScooterLab UK

"Vaping is for poodles” growled Capstan as he pushed the king a square to the left with his paw....

Above, an extract from  SLUK's 'The Great Escape', read in full here - great writing and an amusing read from the SLUK guys.

ScooterLab UK are on the look out for some new writing talent to provide a different slant on the fast approaching Isle of Wight scooter rally. If you are going and are up for the challenge, you could win a Sena Prism helmet cam (worth £200) for your trouble, see here for full details.

I’m a self-taught photographer and run my own small freelance photography business since 2007. In my main job, I am an engineer in the automotive industry. Every free minute that I have is spent on photography. I’m open to any kind of photography. I have a large interest in cars in general, especially aircooled Volkswagen and Porsche. What/who is SLUK..

" (SLUK) is about scooters, scooter riders and the scooterist lifestyle. And scooters. Did I mention scooters?

ScooterLab was founded by some of the most specialist scooter journalists on the planet. Sticky and Iggy have taken decades of experience built-up on other titles and brought it to SLUK.

ScooterLab makes full use of new technology. It’s a slick custom-built responsive site so it will look great on any device. SLUK’s manifesto includes video content and user interactivity; both of which are difficult to achieve in print.

At the moment SLUK is an embryo, but we expect it to grow in ways none of us could imagine. Help us fill the tank and keep on SLUKing…"

Curve magazine - 6th edition

New from S.I.P. Scootershop...

Out now, the 6th edition of the SIP Scootershop Customer magazine CURVE!

A copy completely in english language, 48 pages full with insight views and reports.

We would like to share some highlights of the last few months here at SIP with our fellow customers. Including rallies, ride-outs, personalities and (of course) scooters! Finally a tactile alternative to our long established online blogs! Alongside letting everybody know what inspired and fascinated us of late, this is also a more convenient way to inform customers about innovations in our shop and improvements to our service.

We release a new edition of ‚Curve‘ bi-annual. The magazine is free-of-charge and a printed copy will be available in our shop in Landsberg, as well as included free in all parcels we ship out. Enjoy the read!
Have a digital preview here:

Oh, before we forget, the reason for the name of our publication is simple: The curves of a coastal road are infinitely preferable to the geometry of your common motorway! Apart from that who can forget the curves of the beautiful Vespa herself and the “Bella Donna” who inspired them?

At work..

Caught on camera at work, photographing a very nice vintage Douglas Vespa, 35mm film fotos to follow soon..

Moto Morini 3 +1/2

I had to run an errand last week which involved driving the car up to Norfolk. Whilst en route and driving through the wilds of Lincolnshire, I caught a flash of red and thought I saw something interesting..

After taking a few minutes to double back on what was a busy country road, I pulled in to Bretts, a hauliers yard. Confirming my suspicions, there stood an immaculate Moto Morini 350. I searched around and eventually came across its lady owner who had pulled in off the road, as she was out of fuel and the reserve refused to work. A guy was kindly helping her out and topping up the tank with some gas to get her on her way again. Her misfortune was my gain as she consented to me taking some fotos of her lovely ride, which you can see above. I didn't have my film camera with me so the iPhone had to suffice. It didn't matter too much as I shot another fine example of this gorgeous bike a few years back on film - see here

All's well that ends well and what a superb find!
